Summary

Can you stop a murder after it’s already happened?

Late October。 After midnight。 You’re waiting up for your seventeen-year-old son。 He’s late。 As you watch from the window, he emerges, and you realize he isn’t alone: he’s walking toward a man, and he’s armed。

You can’t believe it when you see him do it: your funny, happy teenage son, he kills a stranger, right there on the street outside your house。 You don’t know who。 You don’t know why。 You only know your son is now in custody。 His future shattered。

That night you fall asleep in despair。 All is lost。 Until you wake 。 。 。

。 。 。 and it is yesterday。

And then you wake again 。 。 。

。 。 。 and it is the day before yesterday。

Every morning you wake up a day earlier, another day before the murder。 With another chance to stop it。 Somewhere in the past lies an answer。 The trigger for this crime—and you don’t have a choice but to find it 。 。 。

4。5 stars。Very clever thriller/mystery/relationship novel that is well-plotted。 This is the story of Jen, a mother of a teenage boy who she thinks has murdered someone, waking up in the past to try and stop the murder。 The plot unravels backwards and bit by bit the story unfolds。 The use of a second point of view mid-way through was used to great effect and led to a great twist。 The tying together of the plot threads was so well done, leading to a very good ending, although I thought that the ep 4。5 stars。Very clever thriller/mystery/relationship novel that is well-plotted。 This is the story of Jen, a mother of a teenage boy who she thinks has murdered someone, waking up in the past to try and stop the murder。 The plot unravels backwards and bit by bit the story unfolds。 The use of a second point of view mid-way through was used to great effect and led to a great twist。 The tying together of the plot threads was so well done, leading to a very good ending, although I thought that the epilogue wasn’t 100% necessary to the story as the point had been well made in the body of the novel。 The characters were very well-developed and believable。 Lastly, I also enjoyed how the author wove in themes of maternal love, guilt and letting life’s little moments slip by in the busyness of life。 Highly recommend! 。。。more

What would you do if you knew something bad was going to happen and you wanted or wished you could change it。 Would you go back in time?Todd, 17 is late coming home, mom is watching out the window when she sees her son kill a man。 What is happening? Who is this man? Her son isn’t a killer ? And then her life begins to move back a day each day - maybe she can find a way so this won’t happen —- can she?

This book was so unique in the way it was written。 I could not stop listening to this audio book。 You start with today when a crime is committed, but then the narrator, Jen, moves back in time。 It was so intriguing to move back in time not knowing what Jen would find out with each new day or how far back it would go。 It was interesting all of the things that she noticed when she relived those days and the new questions that she asked, and to see if the changes she made would change the future ou This book was so unique in the way it was written。 I could not stop listening to this audio book。 You start with today when a crime is committed, but then the narrator, Jen, moves back in time。 It was so intriguing to move back in time not knowing what Jen would find out with each new day or how far back it would go。 It was interesting all of the things that she noticed when she relived those days and the new questions that she asked, and to see if the changes she made would change the future outcome。 There were several plot twists that I didn't see coming。 I really enjoyed this story and Lesley Sharp, the narrator of the audio book。 I received a complimentary copy of this audio book from Harper Audio through NetGalley。 Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own。 。。。more

This book was genius and so entertaining。I've never been one for crime novels or typical "who done it"s because (not to toot my own horn) but I end up either always guessing who it is or the ending is so obscure that I'm not even invested in that character (*cough cough* The Guest List *cough cough*)。However, whilst this book starts with a murder, going back in time and trying to figure out why the murder happened was absolutely genius。 This really becomes a book about parenthood, love, loyalty This book was genius and so entertaining。I've never been one for crime novels or typical "who done it"s because (not to toot my own horn) but I end up either always guessing who it is or the ending is so obscure that I'm not even invested in that character (*cough cough* The Guest List *cough cough*)。However, whilst this book starts with a murder, going back in time and trying to figure out why the murder happened was absolutely genius。 This really becomes a book about parenthood, love, loyalty and identity。 。。。more

4。75。 I was not sure if I would like the format of going back in time bit by bit to solve the murder mystery but I loved it!The audio was great and kept me totally consumed with the story。The ending did confuse me a tiny bit but overall a fabulous read!

The premise of this book is something new to me。 Jen has a perfect life。。。a husband she loves, a son she's proud of in spite of the challenges of teenage years, and a job that holds it all together。 Then one night she sees her son murder a stranger and everything changes。 Her son is now in custody and Jen is desperate to find out why。Following a mostly sleepless night, Jen wakes to find that it's yesterday。 Every morning she wakes up a day earlier, another day before the murder。 As she tries to The premise of this book is something new to me。 Jen has a perfect life。。。a husband she loves, a son she's proud of in spite of the challenges of teenage years, and a job that holds it all together。 Then one night she sees her son murder a stranger and everything changes。 Her son is now in custody and Jen is desperate to find out why。Following a mostly sleepless night, Jen wakes to find that it's yesterday。 Every morning she wakes up a day earlier, another day before the murder。 As she tries to piece together the events that led up to the crime, she finds she knows less and less about the family she loves。There are many books out there based on time travel, but nothing quite like this one。 Follow Jen down the rabbit hole of her past and you won't be able to stop。 。。。more

Wrong Place Wrong Time is a really solid mystery with a very fun use of time travel that adds an element to the plot I haven't seen before。 Jen, the protagonist, is taken on a journey back through her past to uncover the reasons her son commits an egregious crime just as he turns eighteen。 The mystery itself is super well-crafted, there are lots of good surprises right until the very end。 Wrong Place Wrong Time is a really solid mystery with a very fun use of time travel that adds an element to the plot I haven't seen before。 Jen, the protagonist, is taken on a journey back through her past to uncover the reasons her son commits an egregious crime just as he turns eighteen。 The mystery itself is super well-crafted, there are lots of good surprises right until the very end。 。。。more

This is a rare example of one of those books for me that slowly got more confusing as I read; and typically that isn’t the case。 I loved the premise; and I was really telling everyone as I was reading the first 20-30% how great this book was; a woman sees her son murder a man, sees him taken to prison, and then she wakes up and it’s the day before the murder has happened…I mean that’s just bloody brilliant…。but she gets trapped in this weird time loop and then starts waking up earlier and earlie This is a rare example of one of those books for me that slowly got more confusing as I read; and typically that isn’t the case。 I loved the premise; and I was really telling everyone as I was reading the first 20-30% how great this book was; a woman sees her son murder a man, sees him taken to prison, and then she wakes up and it’s the day before the murder has happened…I mean that’s just bloody brilliant…。but she gets trapped in this weird time loop and then starts waking up earlier and earlier and I lost interest in the plot。 Idk。 It was still a decent book, I went back and forth on giving this a 3 or a 4, and I’m rounding up but I may still change my mind in a day or two 😂3。5 ⭐️ 。。。more

Thank you goodreads giveaways and author and publisher for this Arc copy! This was a really exciting and fun read。 The book starts out with the main character seeing her son murder someone but the story starts to flip and twist each day she wakes up and it's a day in her past。 I loved this actual time travel element and the way it went backwards but led the story forward。。 (Does that make sense? WOW!!! I read A LOT of thrillers, especially as of late, and this may just be one of the best of 2022。 Wrong Place Wrong Time begins on Day Zero when Jen, the main character, watches her son commit murder。 From that moment on her world is shattered。 However, when she wakes up, she finds herself in a time loop and it is the day prior to the murder。。。。 and then the day before that。。。 and so on。 With that knowledge, Jen becomes determined to alter the course of events that led to her son's arrest。 WOW!!! What happens next? Later after they leave Todd with the police and return home, Jenn prays that she can go back in time and fix what caused this tragedy。 Be careful what you wish for, Jen, for the very next day when Jen awakes she has gone back a day。I haven’t read many time travel books but I think Gillian McAllister did a good job making the events that happen as Jen moves backward in time believable。 Her writing was very smooth and emotional。 The mounting tension really captured my attention。 I read the book quite quickly and had a little smile at the end。 I look forward to reading her next book。Robyn Heil, Buyer for Brodart Co。 。。。more

This book is written in a uniquely clever way involving a mysterious crime。 The reader has to keep track of what the main character already knows about her future situation as she goes back in time。 Confusing? Yes, but it pays off for those who stick with the details。

This was a highly anticipated read, and it definitely lived up to my expectation。 Read from start to finish in less than 24 hours, this book got my totally hooked。 My advice would be to go into this story blind (part of the reason I’m excluding a synopsis from this review)。 Although some of my hunches proved to be true, I was still shocked at some of the reveals。 I’ve recently read a few stories that involve time travel, but this is my far the best one yet! As much as I love Gillian McAllister, I must admit I was reeeeeeally hesitant about picking up this book! I have to say early on I had a theory about this book being something to do with one of Jen's clients - a scorned wife desperate to keep her kids away from her husband during a nasty divorce。 I was so wrong!!! I will admit, my next theory was correct but I only figured it out right at the very end - and the way it all ties together was so baffling and tense that I was just blown away。 This is one of the most addictive, spine-tingling, interesting, unputdownable books I have read for a VERY long time。It was complicated as the whole concept of traveling back in time, where Jen knows the future but no one else does and she has to try work backwards and remember how to handle things and what to say / what not to say is pretty difficult to get your head around at first but after a while it sucks you right in to it's crazy whirlwind of a ride!!I really haven't been so engaged and engrossed in a book for a while。 It was startlingly good considering sci-fi is not something I tend to enjoy whatsoever。 A truly absorbing book I wish hadn't finished。 。。。more
